Robert Egert (born 1958, Brooklyn) is an American painter whose work spans four decades, moving between figuration, abstraction, and abstract narrative. He received his BFA from Pratt Institute and an MLA from the City University of New York Center for Cultural Studies, where he studied philosophy and sociology.

Egert began exhibiting his work in the early 1980's at Civilian Warfare (1983), White Columns (1984), and Holly Solomon (1985) in New York. His early paintings combined vernacular imagery with color field strategies and historical references.

His subsequent projects have explored themes of environmental crisis, posthumanism, and the boundaries between the organic and the constructed, drawing on sources from Ovid to Octavia Butler. Major series include Morphopolis, Anthropocene, Gothic Interiors, Nocturnes, and Small Worlds. His work has been reviewed in the Brooklyn Rail and he has written on art for Flash Art International and Hyperallergic. Egert's paintings are held in private and institutional collections in the United States and Europe.
